SPAN-EASY was built on a simple idea: that language learning should feel like play, not homework — and that the best teachers are the ones who grew up speaking the language themselves.
Our Story
Born in Philadelphia, built for families
SPAN-EASY started in 2020 when our founder — a native Spanish speaker and former classroom teacher — noticed a gap in Philadelphia's enrichment landscape. There were plenty of language apps and big-box programs, but nothing that felt personal, play-based, and truly effective for young children.
So she built it herself. Starting with a single after-school group in West Philadelphia, SPAN-EASY grew through word of mouth — parents who saw their kids come home singing in Spanish, asking for more. Today we serve families across Philadelphia with three programs, all rooted in the same founding belief: children learn language by living it, not memorizing it.
Every class is still small. Every instructor is still a native speaker. And every session is still screen-free. Some things don't change.
Our Philosophy
How children actually learn language
Immersion over instruction
We don't teach Spanish like a subject. We create an environment where Spanish is the natural medium — through songs, stories, games, and conversation. Children absorb language the same way they learned their first one: by being surrounded by it.
Play is the curriculum
Every activity is designed to feel like play. When children are engaged and joyful, their brains are primed for language acquisition. We never use worksheets, flashcard drills, or rote repetition.
Small classes, big results
Our 6-student maximum isn't a marketing claim — it's a pedagogical commitment. Every child gets heard, corrected gently, and encouraged individually. Language learning requires participation, and participation requires space.
Native speakers only
Accent, rhythm, and natural expression can't be faked. Our instructors grew up speaking Spanish — in Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Spain. Children hear authentic Spanish from day one, and it shows in how they speak.
